Simon Fanshawe

Simon is a highly experienced and effective non-exec director in the private, public and third sectors.

NED work

Simon is Chair of Hexagon Housing and on the Board of Powerful Women.

He recently ended his terms as a Board member of Housing & Care 21 and of Brighton Dome & Festival and also the governing Council of Sussex University. Having been a law student there and a political activist in the 1970’s, the latter was six great years as a poacher turned gamekeeper. More significantly during his chairmanship the University saw a 25% increase in student numbers, 43% increase in turnover and a fivefold increase in surplus to £14m, outsourced £120m of services in catering and facilities management, significantly improving their quality and efficiency, and undertook a £350m cape ex programme.

He has previously also been a Board member of Forster, the communications company, founding Chairman of local radio group Surf 107.2 until we sold it, Midnight Communications, Shoots, the garden centre group, the Festival Fringe in Edinburgh and the Strategic body for greater Brighton.
